Grade-Based Football Program
The Grade-Based format represents a more natural progression for today’s youth football players. This structure aligns with national youth football trends and helps create a strong feeder system for Pennsylvania middle and high school programs.
By grouping athletes by grade level rather than weight, the Grade-Based model supports consistent development, fairness, and long-term player growth while strengthening our overall program.
What Is Grade-Based Football?
Grade-Based football places athletes in grade-appropriate divisions, protected by age, with no weight restrictions.
Players compete alongside the same classmates they attend school with and play other sports with—such as baseball, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse. Athletes progress together from 1st grade through 6th grade, creating continuity, familiarity, and stronger team bonds as they move on to middle school and beyond.
Why Grade-Based?
-
Socially and developmentally appropriate
-
Promotes team continuity and parity at every level
-
Eliminates the need for players to jump multiple divisions due to growth spurts
-
Allows athletes to develop at a pace appropriate for their age and grade level
-
Encourages confidence, camaraderie, and enjoyment by playing with friends and classmates
As players advance through the program, they gain experience competing with peers of all sizes while developing the skills needed for success at the middle school and high school levels.
