North Penn Squires Football and Cheer

General Information

Sideline & Competitive Cheer

“Cheerleading is a display of discipline, practice, dedication, determination, skill, and athleticism.”

The North Penn Squires Cheer Program is designed to teach proper cheerleading fundamentals while building confidence, teamwork, and school spirit. We pride ourselves on being a steppingstone program, preparing athletes with the skills and techniques needed for middle school and high school cheerleading.

Our program offers both Sideline Cheer and optional Competitive Cheer opportunities.

Registration

Early registration opens in March. Families should register by creating an account through our homepage.

  • Open to athletes in Kindergarten through 6th Grade

  • No prior cheer experience required

Season

The cheer season runs from late July / early August through the end of October.

  • Sideline season: Late July/Early August – October

  • Competition season (optional): Typically continues into November and December

Practices

Practices are held at our home field on Hancock Street in North Wales, directly across from Gwyn-Nor Elementary School.

Practice schedule:

  • July & August: Typically 3 evenings per week

  • Once school begins: Reduced to 2 evenings per week

As temperatures drop, practices will move indoors to a school district facility. Gym assignments are determined by the school district. While Gwyn-Nor Elementary is our preferred location, we cannot guarantee the specific school each season.

Games

The ICFL typically releases the game schedule in mid-August.

  • Games are played on Saturdays or Sundays

  • Season runs through September and October

  • Each squad typically cheers one game per weekend

ICFL Cheer Off

All cheer athletes will have the opportunity to participate in the ICFL Cheer Off, hosted by one of the league teams.

This event is a non-competitive performance that allows athletes to showcase their halftime routines and hard work throughout the season.
Date and location to be announced.

The official cheer uniform includes:

  • Skirt

  • Shell

  • Bow

Families must provide:

Competition Information (Optional)

Participation in competitive cheer is optional.
If an athlete chooses to compete:

  • All practices are mandatory

  • Additional practices may be added

  • Competition season typically begins in late October

  • Practice locations are dependent on school district availability

  • Teams generally participate in 2–3 competitions per season
