About the ICFL (Inter County Football League)
The Inter County Football League (ICFL) is a grade-based youth football league serving communities throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. It provides organized, competitive play for boys and girls in flag and tackle football, and is focused on development, fun, and long-term participation.
Grade-Based Football — What It Means
In the ICFL, teams are organized by school grade level rather than by player weight. This approach allows athletes to compete with classmates and peers they see every day in school and other sports — promoting a more natural progression of skills, confidence, and teamwork. The league’s grade-based format is designed to better align with national trends in youth football and to create a true feeder system into middle school and high school football programs.
Because the ICFL does not use weight restrictions, players learn to compete and grow alongside teammates and opponents of varying sizes — just as they will in future levels of play.
Divisions and Participation
-
The ICFL offers flag football divisions for kindergarten and 1st grade.
-
Tackle football divisions are available for 2nd through 6th grade.
-
Many ICFL teams also support cheerleading programs, giving families a full youth sports experience.
League Philosophy
The ICFL is built on the belief that youth sports should be developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and fun. By grouping athletes by grade, the league encourages participation, teamwork, and personal growth while helping players prepare for the next level of competition.
