Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is prior experience required?

No. Prior experience is not required for any of our youth programs. We welcome athletes of all experience levels and focus on skill development, confidence, teamwork, and fun. Our coaching staff works with each athlete to help them grow throughout the season.

Can my child play up or down a grade?

To align with league rules and ensure fair competition, athletes must play at their current grade level. Playing down is not permitted. In some cases, athletes may be eligible to play up one grade with approval. Requests to play up are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are subject to league and organizational approval.

How are teams formed?

Teams are formed based on:

  • Grade level

  • Registration numbers

  • League requirements

  • Coach availability

Our goal is to create balanced teams while providing a positive experience for all athletes.

Are teammate or coach requests accepted?

While we understand families may wish to request specific teammates or coaches, requests are not guaranteed. Team placements are made in the best interest of the program and the overall experience for all participants.

What if my child misses a practice?

We understand families have multiple commitments. While regular attendance is encouraged, occasional absences are expected. Coaches will clearly outline their practice attendance expectations at the beginning of the season, including how practice time may relate to game-day playing time.

If your athlete will miss a practice or game, please notify your coach in advance through GameChanger.

How does communication work?

The North Penn Squires use GameChanger as our primary communication platform. Families will receive practice updates, game details, event announcements, and schedule changes through the app. Email may also be used for organization-wide communication.

How does weather cancellation work?

Weather-related delays or cancellations are communicated through GameChanger and, when necessary, email. Athlete safety is always our top priority when making weather-related decisions.

What equipment is provided, and what do families need to supply?

Equipment requirements vary by program:

Football

  • NPAA provides required team equipment for tackle football.

  • Families are responsible for personal items such as cleats, mouthguards, athletic supporters, and protective cups.

Cheer
Parents must purchase the following required items:

  • White cheer sneakers (any brand is acceptable)

    • Flat soles and flexibility are important for tumbling and stunting

  • Navy blue bloomers or shorts

    • Any brand is acceptable

    • Many affordable options are available through online retailers such as Amazon

What happens if my child is injured?

Athlete safety is our top priority. If an athlete is injured, they may be removed from participation until it is safe to return. A medical clearance may be required before resuming activities.

What is the volunteer requirement?

Each family is asked to complete three (3) volunteer shifts during the season or submit a volunteer opt-out fee. Volunteer opportunities and sign-ups will be shared once the game schedule is finalized. See out volunteer page for more information.

What if my child is placed on a waitlist?

Waitlists are handled on a first-come, first-served basis, and placement is not guaranteed. If a waitlist reaches a viable size, the organization may evaluate the possibility of forming an additional team, pending coach availability and league approval.
